Instrument collisions and obstructed line of view

The Da Vinci robot is designed to work with wide view on the operating target. Assisting instrument (e.g. suction tube, grasper), especially straight and rigid, frequently block clear view. The assistant often has a hard time to enable an optimal approach to the target area without hindering the view on the workspace, and to avoid collisions with the instruments.

Solution

The LaproFlex grasper can be steered away from the robot’s workspace

The LaproFlex graspers can approach the target area optimally, after which the shaft can be steered away from the workspace of the robot. This way the assistant can assist (e.g. retract tissue or present a needle) without collisions with the instruments of the surgeon. The surgeon maintains complete freedom in moving his robot end-effectors.

The LaproFlex graspers can approach the target area optimally, after which the shaft can be steered away from the workspace of the robot.
